This beautiful 912E was imported by us from California in the past. 1976 was the first year that Porsche's were galvanized and made more rust resistant and also the only year that the 912E model was built. Equipped with a 4 cylinder injection boxer engine with a smooth shifting 5 speed transmission. After a six year absence, the 912 was reintroduced to North America for the 1976 model year as the 912E to fill the entry level position left by the discontinuation of the 914 while the new 924 - another vehicle from the joint effort between Porsche and Volkswagen and the official replacement for the 914 - was being finalized and put into production. During the production run from May 1975 to July 1976, 2,092 of the 912E were built, exclusively for the American market. For comparison, 4,784 911s were built for the ... U.S. for the 1976 model year. With an MSRP of $10,845, the 912E was $3,000 cheaper than the 911S at the time.
